Phase Protection Relay are for protecting motors in 3 phase systems from Phase Failure, Phase Asymmetry, Sequence and over heat situations. These functions are shown below. 1) Phase Sequence: If the phase are not in right Sequence Relay never energize the system. 2) Phase Failure: If one of the phases are lost for any reason relay cuts the output for protecting the motor. 3) PTC Protection: PTC is placed to the motor and if it increases over the 2 Kohm it cuts the output. 4) Phase asymmetry: if between phases asymmetry is more than tolerance cuts the system.
